Course: The foundations of technical analysis

Lesson Insights

Technical analyst or chartist?

A Technical Analyst and a Chartist are almost the same thing. They are both individuals who use technical analysis, which is a method of evaluating securities by analyzing statistics generated by market activity, such as past prices and volume. Technical analysts, or chartists, use charts and other tools to identify patterns and trends in the market, with the goal of making informed investment decisions.

The terms "technical analyst" and "chartist" are often used interchangeably, as they both refer to individuals who use technical analysis as their primary method of evaluating securities. Both terms emphasize the importance of using charts and other technical indicators to make informed investment decisions, and both are based on the idea that market trends can predict future activity.
